Getting Started Is Simple
1. Open the Printer
Lift the top cover to access the ribbon compartment.
2. Remove Old Ribbon
If there is a spent ribbon inside, lift it out and set it aside.
3. Insert New Ribbon
Drop the R2011 ribbon into place with the ribbon path facing down.
4. Close the Cover
Press down until you hear the cover click shut.
5. Load Your Cards
Stack blank cards in the input hopper. CR-80 PVC or composite cards work best.

My printer is discontinued. Can I still get ribbons?
Yes. Even though Evolis no longer manufactures the Pebble, Dualys, Quantum, and Securion printers, they continue to produce consumables for them. The R2011 ribbon is still in active production. We keep stock on hand so you can get the ribbons you need without delays.
What is the difference between R2011 and RCT023NAA?
Both are black monochrome ribbons, but they are designed for different printer generations. The R2011 works with legacy printers like Pebble, Dualys, Quantum, and Securion. The RCT023NAA works with newer printers like Zenius, Primacy, and Elypso. They are not interchangeable. Check your printer model before ordering.
How many cards can I print with one ribbon?
The R2011 yields approximately 1,000 single-sided prints. If you are printing on both sides of each card, expect around 500 complete cards per ribbon. The actual yield depends on your print layout. The ribbon saver feature means you may get more prints if your design does not cover the entire card surface.
What is ribbon saver and how does it work?
Ribbon saver is a feature built into the R2011 continuous ribbon design. Instead of using a full card-length section of ribbon for every print, the printer only advances the ribbon by the actual printed area plus a 7mm jump. If you are printing a small barcode or a few lines of text, you use much less ribbon than a full-card design would require. This stretches your ribbon supply further.
Will this ribbon work in my Zenius, Primacy, or Tattoo 2 printer?
No. The R2011 is designed exclusively for legacy Evolis printers: Pebble, Dualys, Quantum, and Securion. If you have a Zenius or Primacy, you need the RCT023NAA ribbon instead. If you have a Tattoo 2, you need the R2211 ribbon. The ribbon cassettes are physically different and will not fit. Contact us if you need help identifying the right ribbon for your printer.
Does this ribbon include a protective overlay?
No. The R2011 is a black-only ribbon with no overlay panel. If you need protection for your printed cards, you have two options: use a separate overlay ribbon after printing, or print on pre-laminated card stock. For most text and barcode applications, the resin black print is durable enough without additional protection.
Why does my barcode need resin black instead of dye?
Barcode scanners read the contrast between dark bars and light spaces. Resin black creates a true, opaque black that scanners can detect reliably. Dye-based black can appear slightly translucent or have inconsistent density, which causes read errors. If your cards will be scanned, always use a resin black ribbon like the R2011.
How should I store unused ribbons?
Keep unopened ribbons in their original packaging in a cool, dry place. The ideal storage temperature is 5-25°C (41-77°F) with 50-70% relative humidity. Avoid direct sunlight, dust, and chemical fumes. Unopened ribbons are good for up to one year. Once you open a ribbon, use it within three months for best print quality.
How often should I clean my printer?
