Collection: Proximity & Smart Cards
We carry proximity cards and smart cards built for access control, identification, and security systems. Specialist ID has been a family-owned and operated company in the USA since 2001. We offer no minimum order requirements and quantity discounts, making it affordable for employees and organizations of any size to purchase exactly what they need.
Proximity Cards and Smart Cards for Every Access Control Need
Proximity cards and smart cards are both contactless credentials built for different security levels. Proximity cards use 125 kHz RFID technology for basic door access control systems. They are read-only physical cards, so the card number cannot be changed after programming. Smart cards run at 13.56 MHz, contain an embedded chip, and can process and encrypt information.
When tapped at a prox card reader, the system reads the card and checks credentials to allow or deny entry. Our collection includes HID-compatible ISO prox cards in 26-bit H10301, 35-bit Corporate 1000, and other popular formats, plus MIFARE, DESFire, and iCLASS options. We also carry magnetic stripe cards for systems that use swipe-based card reader technology.
125 kHz Proximity Cards Work with Legacy Systems
The 125 kHz frequency is the standard for traditional proximity card systems and is compatible with readers from HID, AWID, Farpointe, and Indala. These 125kHz RFID prox cards are a cost-effective solution for facilities with legacy readers already in place.
Our SPIDprox HID-compatible PVC proximity cards are custom-programmed with fast turnaround. Made from durable material, they help protect secure areas and are customizable to ensure compatibility with your existing vendor equipment and access control system.
Smart Cards Support Encryption and Multi-Factor Authentication
Smart cards contain a microprocessor that stores and protects credentials, biometric data, and digital certificates. This makes them a standard choice in enterprise security, government ID programs, and systems that require logical access to computers and networks. Many NFC cards use near-field communication technology, allowing compatible devices and smartphones to scan them without contact.
This makes them useful as a smart business card or digital business card that shares information conveniently. While smart cards have a shorter read range than 125 kHz prox cards, they offer a level of security that basic proximity cards cannot provide.
Proximity Business Cards Combine Access and Identity
A proximity business card or NFC business card uses a standard CR80 format with an embedded chip, functioning as both a printed photo ID and an access credential. Student ID cards also use this format for campus access.
Our blank proximity card stock works with standard ID card printers, so organizations can create custom cards with employee names, photos, and branding. The slim, wallet-friendly design makes them convenient to carry every day.
Choosing the Right Card for Your System
Selecting the right card starts with knowing your reader infrastructure and security requirements. Before ordering, confirm these key details:
- Card frequency: 125 kHz for traditional proximity systems, 13.56 MHz for smart card platforms
- Encoding format: Match the bit format and facility code to your installed card reader
- Security level: Choose smart cards when encryption or multi-factor authentication is required
Whether you are ready to switch systems or need compatible cards for your current setup, our team can help. Contact us with questions about purchase options or compatibility. We help you find the right credential for your access control system with no minimum order required.
